What you need to know when taking your dog for a walk in public

Dogs are social animals that need physical activity, interaction with other dogs and the exploitation of new places. Therefore, it is advisable to take them for a walk 3 times a day. In order to make the dog walk legally in Romania, you have the following obligations:

1. Clean up after your dog

It is mandatory to always have bags for cleaning and clean after your dog has pooped.

2. Do not walk the dog in places where it is forbidden

Access to children's playgrounds, shops and agri-food markets is prohibited. Access with pets is in parks and other public locations is regulated by local council decisions, differing depending on each city.

3. The dog must always be on a leash in public

The dog should always be on a leash on the street and in other public places, for his own safety and the safety of those around him. Dogs that belong to the category of breeds considered aggressive will necessarily wear muzzles. The dog can be free only in specially arranged and fenced puppy parks.

4. Have your health card with you.

At every walk you must have your dog's health card with up-to-date vaccines and deworming. The police can request this act of the puppy at any time, and the fines given in its absence are quite considerable (2,000 and 10,000 lei). It will also check if the animal has a chip.
